Featured Design - Bar Mitzvah

We love when one good design inspires several others. This has definitely been the case with our Camille invitation - so many of our dealers have been sending in orders for this design and we are constantly amazed at the level of creativity that arrives on every order form. This is exactly what our invitations line is meant for. Many designs can be deconstructed and modified to suit each client and their unique occasion. The best part? There's no additional charge for us to do this. We supply the tools, our dealers and their clients supply the creativity to reimagine the designs in their own unique way.

We received a great order for a Bar Mitzvah invitation recently from Sincerely Yours, Diane in Boca Raton, Florida. Diane Bender, the eponymous owner, worked with her client to customize the design. They started with a sample of our Camille invitation which was of course too feminine in feel, but her client loved the way the design was framed out. Knowing we can customize any design in any way for no additional fees, they chose several elements from the Dauphine Press Design Library. The foliate background of the Camille invitation was replaced with masculine stripes and the palette moved to a steel gray and two shades of blue. Diane and her client called out the specifications for the invitation design, but they wanted the additional enclosure cards to relate to the invitation design without matching it entirely. Our designers took the lead on laying out the other cards. Diane relates “The Dauphine designers were a huge help on this job, as always."

Deborah Tanaka: Love Maud

Last week I came across a very fun business card which we printed for Deborah Tanaka, a Bay Area designer with a long history in childrens' fashion, graphic design and surface design. Deborah illustrated the card by hand and often embellishes the cards with watercolor and stitching before giving them out – a sweet touch that speaks volumes about her new passion for handmade goods. Love Maud is Deborah's socially and environmentally responsible line of childrens' clothing and accessories. She says "I made my choice to leave the corporate clothing industry to embrace the Slow Fashion movement like many designers in the US and Europe. Here in Northern California, there are many indie fashion design studios creating high fashion from recycled and organic materials. I am one of those designers."

This Friday, April 30th, Deborah is exhibiting at the new Roots Collaborative, a local, handmade artisinal marketplace in Mill Valley, California.

We are very lucky to know Deborah through her daughter, Dauphine Press Creative Director, Erin Shetterly Burns. We turned to Deborah last year as a design resource for our Bar and Bat Mitzvah invitation collection. We wanted the line to impart her inspired, youth-focused point of view that we found so fresh and appealing. We also needed the designs to be true to the Dauphine Press sensibility, as well as hold equal appeal to parents and their tweens. Deborah knocked it out of the park with several different concepts which have proven very successful. Below are two of her designs.
