Union Street Papery Trunk Show

We had an amazing time last week at the trunk show held at Union Street Papery and wanted to share a bit for those that couldn't be there! We loved working in-person with the team at Union Street Papery that we usually only get to talk on the phone and email with. Plus, meeting the brides that came out for the event, hearing their ideas first-hand and brainstorming designs on the spot is always fun.

We fell in love with the "secret garden" feel of Union Street Papery's new space! Can't wait to foil stamp this gate pattern onto some stationery.

Amazing new calligraphy work, done by in-house calligrapher Mo Seder, in their entry way to lead you off of bustling Union Street and into their beautiful courtyard, bridal bungalow and stationery shop. Of course there was tons of talk about having Mo's calligraphy letterpress printed on a bride or two's Dauphine Press invitation suite!

Judy Paulen Designs - Trunk Show Photos

As we mentioned, our new Custom Wedding Portfolio II was launched last week at two trunk shows hosted by Judy Paulen Designs in New York! Our team had a great time at the event meeting all of the brides looking to use the new album to create their custom wedding suite.

Printing Spotlight: Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party

We were honored to play a small part in the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) Academy Awards Viewing Party this past weekend. Our parent company, DataGraphic, had the pleasure of printing the invitation and program (designed by Project Projects) for this important event:

 

A little bit about the event:

EJAF’s very first Academy Awards Viewing Party took place in February of 1992 – a gathering of a small group of concerned and generous friends at the Maple Drive Restaurant that raised $300,000 to help EJAF in its infancy. Since then, the benefit has grown by leaps and bounds, raising $5.1 million in 2008 alone. Featuring a cocktail reception, a gala dinner during the live Academy Awards telecast, a live auction, and performances by Sir Elton John and special guests, the Party brings together luminaries from the Hollywood community, business, fashion, music, public service, and philanthropy to celebrate the achievements of the Academy Awards nominees and to raise urgently needed dollars for EJAF’s vital work. During an evening when the eyes of the world are on Hollywood, EJAF’s Party focuses public awareness on the continually evolving AIDS epidemic.

 

Dauphine Press and DataGraphic have a lot of exciting projects to share. DataGraphic specializes in commercial offset printing and specialty finishes such as genuine engraving, fine letterpress, foil stamping & embossing. terrain special events soirée

Last night we had a great evening at the events open house at terrain in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. {Full disclosure: my husband runs this garden lifestyle brand for Urban Outfitters.} The evening was magical and well attended. I met so many great people and had a fun time showing our custom letterpress invitations to brides and grooms.

Terrain has been quietly booking events from weddings and rehearsal dinners to birthday dinners and parties since they opened about two years ago. They have a new chef {the amazing Keith Rudolf, the former chef de cuisine from Supper in Philadelphia} and an in-house events team who are collaborative, creative and attentive. Terrain isn't simply an ideal spot for Sunday brunch, it's also a dreamscape for weddings and other events.

I always get so inspired when I spend time at terrain. I come away wanting to completely redefine my indoor and outdoor living spaces, overhaul my entertaining and unplug my life. That's saying a lot for someone who isn't a gardener at heart. Terrain is part reverie, part store, part experiential bliss. Last night didn't disappoint. Feast your eyes!

San Francisco Ballet Silver Celebration

This year, Dauphine Design had the honor of working with the San Francisco Ballet to design the event invitations and materials for their opening night gala celebrating creative director Helgi Tomasson's silver anniversary.

Early on in the design process, a stark palette of white, silver and gunmetal gray was established. Later at our presentation of several concepts to Helgi and his wife Marlene, he personally selected a minimalist design in which the words "Silver Celebration" were printed in a whisper of varnish on the white cover of the invitation. We incorporated silver foil on the metallic vellum flysheet inside the invitation, as well as on the belly band {which, when removed, revealed the letterpress "Silver Celebration" on the cover}. Metallic elements were also introduced in the envelope liners, the silver response envelopes and the die cut menus which sat inside each dinner plate at the event.

The event was also a tribute to Helgi's entire family. Cabernet from their private vineyard was poured, photos taken by his son Erik were used throughout the invitations, and his wife Marlene was honored with a Lew Christensen medal which recognizes extraordinary service to the San Francisco Ballet.

The Silver Celebration was, by all accounts, an affair to remember. We are proud to have been a part of the festivities!

Wedding and Events Open House at terrain

On the evening of Friday, May 14th, we will be at terrain in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania for an amazing open house. We'll be in good company with Laura Novak Photography, Flying Monkey Patisserie and Dallas Shaw. If you haven't been to terrain yet, you're missing out on one of life's great experiences. The events being held there are nothing short of magical. If you're in the Philadelphia or Wilmington area, please rsvp as space is limited.
